
Family Law Specialization
Pursue your Family Law Specialization certification to demonstrate your advanced experience and expertise in family law. Certified specialists exceed basic proficiency and demonstrate extraordinary knowledge and skill, strengthening the practice of law and enhancing the state’s legal profession. Achieving certification is ideal way to demonstrate to both clients and fellow attorneys that you can offer specialized expertise to address complex matters.
The Family Law Certification program is administered by the Indiana State Bar Association Family Law Certification Board, an independent certifying organization under Admission and Discipline Rule 30.
Steps in acquiring and maintaining the ISBA Family Law Certification:
- Meet the application criteria, including experience, education, and evaluation requirements (See page 3 of the Standards for Certification and Re-Certification)
- Apply to sit for the Family Law Certification Exam, held every other year in Indianapolis
- Pass the Family Law Certification Exam
- Renew your certificate every 5 years by demonstrating that you continue to maintain the required experience, education, and evaluation standards
Fees:
- Application: $300
- Testing: $250
- Application Appeal: $100
- Test Score Appeal: $100
- Annual Certification Fee: $100
- Recertification Fee: $300
