J. Lamont “Monty” Harris, Patricia L. McKinnon to receive ISBA GP Hall of Fame Award


INDIANAPOLIS (June 1, 2017) – J. Lamont “Monty” Harris and Patricia L. McKinnon have been selected as recipients of the 2017 GP Hall of Fame Award by the Indiana State Bar Association’s General Practice, Solo & Small Firm Section. This award honors outstanding contributions to clients, the legal profession and the community and will be presented at the ISBA Solo & Small Firm Conference in French Lick on Friday, June 2.


Harris, a native of Montgomery County, is a 1970 graduate of the Purdue University College of Agriculture and a 1976 graduate of the Robert H. McKinney School of Law. Upon admission to the Indiana bar, he became associated with the firm now known as Henthorn Harris Weliever & Petrie, P.C., and became a shareholder in 1983. Harris is a member of the Montgomery County (past president) and Indiana State (past chair, IndianaDocs Committee) bar associations. Since 2006, Harris has been a certified Indiana Trust & Estate Lawyer, certified by the Trust & Estate Specialty Board (TESB) of the ISBA. His community activities include serving as director and past president of the Crawfordsville-Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, and director and past president of Montgomery County Economic Development, Inc. He is a member of the First United Methodist Church of Crawfordsville, where he has served as treasurer and as a member of the Endowment Committee and Board of Trustees.


McKinnon, Indianapolis, is a practitioner at her firm, Law Office of Patricia L. McKinnon. Previously, she served as a part-time public defender for the Marion County Public Defender Agency. She received her B.A. from Augustana College in 1983 and her J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 1994. Patricia is a member of the Indianapolis and Indiana State (past chair, Solo & Small Firm Conference) bar associations, Indianapolis Bar Foundation (past board member; Fellow; Senior Fellow) and Indiana Bar Foundation (Fellow). She currently serves on the board of directors for Indiana Legal Services and is a volunteer guardian ad litem for Kids’ Voice of Indiana. She is also active in her community, currently serving as president of her son’s Football Parents’ Association at Covenant Christian High School and as an adult Sunday school teacher at John Knox Presbyterian Church (past deacon, session member).
