Higher Logic - Launch Day on Biteable.

You spoke. We listened.

We want to ensure that you can communicate with, ask questions of and seek guidance from your colleagues in a convenient, easy-to-use fashion. In March 2015, the ISBA launched "forums" in place of its electronic discussion lists. While the forums were directly linked to our membership database (a good thing), the login requirements to create new posts, among other things, were too burdensome.

The Indiana State Bar Association has launched InbarConnect, its new and improved email-based discussion list platform powered by Higher Logic. This new platform offers the best of both worlds for members. Conversations simply come to you – no need to remember to log in to the ISBA website to create and respond to posts. But for those members that wish to utilize InbarConnect’s bells and whistles (e.g., archives, resource library, etc.), they can do so by visiting

What’s not to love?

  •  More discussion traffic (email-based platform = easy to use)
  •  Posts are archived & searchable
  •  No cumbersome login requirements to create new posts
  •  Directly linked to our membership database
  •  Simple, automatic & convenient
  •  Camaraderie among your practice group

Spearheaded by ISBA Past President Jeff R. Hawkins, this new platform underwent a beta testing period by a committee of members, a critical step in preparation for the launch.

“After we transitioned to the forums during my ISBA presidency, several members contacted me about their desire for a better way to communicate,” ISBA Past President Jeff R. Hawkins said. “The launch of Higher Logic’s e-discussion list system proves that the ISBA leadership heard and acted on those requests. This robust product combines all of the simplicity of our old e-discussion lists, plus some of the best forum-like features.”

How can I start receiving posts?

Because InbarConnect is directly linked to our membership database, members have been auto-subscribed to receive posts for each section/committee of which they were a member. Please note: In order to participate in a particular e-discussion list, you must first join that section. To join a section, visit (via the “Sections” tab in the menu bar at the top, select the section you wish to join). All ISBA sections (except for Utility Law Section) offer an e-discussion list for its members. A handful of committees also offer an e-discussion list.

How do I access InbarConnect (

InbarConnect is accessible through the ISBA website at You can also access InbarConnect via the State Bar’s mobile app. To download, search for “Indiana State Bar” at the iTunes App Store or Google Play.

How do I log in to InbarConnect?

Visit and click on the “Sign In” button in the upper, right-hand corner. You will automatically be re-directed to the ISBA’s website sign-in page if you are not already logged in. Can’t remember your ISBA login information? Call us at 800.266.2581.

What about the forums?

You will no longer be able to post to the old “forums” beginning on Monday, May 15, but you will still have access to them in order to search past discussions.

It is our hope that the ease of use of this new platform will make it easier for you find solutions to your professional challenges and help build a spirit of community among the different practice groups. Indiana Probate Bar, For the past 3 years I have been working under a consulting contract with IDOR to finish out inheritance tax. This week IDOR decided to not renew my consulting contract largely due to financial considerations. My last day at IDOR will be May 31. A newly-hired attorney will be assigned inheritance tax matters that come to IDOR’s attention as a part of her legal responsibilities at the Department. While I am disappointed that I can’t finish out inheritance tax matters with you, I am ready to move on. Over the past 10 years that I have been at IDOR I have gotten to know many of you. I have greatly enjoyed serving you and your clients. Since becoming Administrator in February 2010, I have worked hard at administering IDOR’s inheritance tax laws, regulations and policies in a fair, consistent and reasonable manner. I will miss working with you, but hopefully our paths will cross somewhere down the road. Don Hopper
