Ann C. Mackey receives ISBA Women in the Law Recognition Award

INDIANAPOLIS (Oct. 30, 2015) – Ann C. Mackey’s dedication to helping women advance in the legal community was recognized at the Indiana State Bar Association’s (ISBA) annual meeting earlier this month, where she received the Women in the Law Recognition Award.

Mackey, Indianapolis, is a shareholder at the firm Ogletree Deakins. She has practiced law for more than 40 years. Early in her career, she focused in the areas of criminal, environmental, estate planning and divorce law, and was a litigator. For the last 20 years though, she has specialized in the area of employee benefits. Since the Affordable Care Act was enacted in 2010, Mackey has played a key role in helping employers comply with the requirements of Health Care Reform.

As an employee benefits lawyer, Mackey has advised large and small employers on the design and operation of their benefit plans, defended employers in IRS and DOL audits, cured plan defects, and assisted with benefits due diligence in acquisitions and divestitures. She advises companies on the design and operation of company-owned or leased primary care medical clinics.

She received her B.A. from Principia College in Elsah, Ill., in 1969 and her J.D. from Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., in 1974.

Founded in 1896, the Indiana State Bar Association (ISBA) is the single largest legal organization in the state. With more than 12,000 members, the ISBA serves and advocates on behalf of its members, their clients and the public interest as the independent voice of the legal profession. The ISBA’s office is located in downtown Indianapolis. For more information about the State Bar, visit
