ISBA launches new forums in place of e-discussion lists

The State Bar is excited to announce the launch of its new section forums, one of the key member benefits now available through our new and improved website and membership database. The new forums are directly linked to the database, keeping each forum up to date with regard to new members and email address changes. You will have the ability to cut down on the number of emails you receive daily by subscribing only to topics posted to the forums that are of special interest to you.

Important to note: The ISBA will make the switch from its current e-discussion list provider to the forums on Monday, March 16, meaning you will no longer be able to post to the e-discussion lists. However, you can already post to any forum of which you are already a section member by signing in at Click here for instructions on how to access the forums.

Similar to e-discussion lists, forum posts are archived, searchable and provide you with the option of receiving posts as a single “digest” email as opposed to receiving multiple emails throughout the day. Also, much like what you’re used to now, every time someone posts a new topic to the forum of which you are a member, you will receive an email notification allowing you to read the post. The primary difference is that in order to reply to someone else’s post, you will need to be signed in at This simple step has been made easy for you because a direct link to the forum post on the website will be included in the email notification that you receive (see example below). In order to initiate a new post, you will also need to be signed in to to select your forum.

We are excited about the functionality and connectivity of the forums with our new database! For more information about the forums and subscription options, click here. For questions, please contact your section liaison at 800.266.2581.
