About the program

This program focuses on language access in relation to pro bono service and provides an overview of Formal Opinion 500 (Language Access in the Client-Lawyer Relationship), issued by the ABA Standing Committee on Ethics and Professional Responsibility in October 2021. Topics covered include attorneys' duty to communicate with clients in a reasonably understandable manner, interpreter qualifications, supervisory duties, and guidance regarding social and cultural differences and challenges.

This session was presented as part of the 2022 "Talk to a Lawyer Today" prep course.
