Professional enjoyment: The most satisfying aspect of being a lawyer is achieving a great result for my client, whether that involves solving a problem, preventing a problem from arising or resolving a dispute. I love being part of a solutions-oriented profession and guiding clients through the legal process.

Your inspiration: Throughout my life, I have admired my parents’ love for their careers as teachers. After college, my focus turned to finding a career that would bring me that same joy. My lifelong love of government and politics pointed me in the direction of law school. After my first week of classes, I knew I had made the right decision, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my practice thus far.

Why bar association involvement: Our local and state bar associations not only provide opportunities for professional growth and development, but also provide opportunities to give back to our communities. Whether we are offering legal services to the underserved, educating our youth in civics, mentoring new members of our profession, or continuing our own legal education, bar associations are the hubs for these activities, and we all should participate in and contribute to our bar associations for the good of our profession.

If not a lawyer: master of the house and keeper of the inn at my own bed & breakfast in downtown Newburgh, Ind.

Fav hobbies: In order of importance: Indiana Hoosiers football and basketball; Green Bay Packers; traveling; singing with local choral groups; and beating my husband and his friends at fantasy football. Fav book or author and current reading: Jane Austin is my favorite author, although my favorite books are the Harry Potter series. I try to sneak a few nonfiction books in here & there, so I am currently reading Catherine the Great: Portrait of a Woman by Robert K. Massie. Fav vacation spot: My husband and I like to try new places, so we rarely vacation in the same place more than once; however, our favorite trips have taken us to Jicaro Island in Nicaragua and a lovely bed & breakfast in Sandwich, Mass., on Cape Cod. Fav food or restaurant: I love interesting local restaurants with an international flair. My favorite is Café Arazu, a Mediterranean restaurant in downtown Newburgh. Top of my bucket list: The first item on my bucket list would be to travel to each of the 50 states.
