A Dynamic Conversation About Artificial Intelligence

A Dynamic Conversation About Artificial Intelligence
Presented at the ISBA Solo & Small Firm Conference

Stuart Teicher led an AI-focused breakout session at the 2024 ISBA Solo and Small Firm Conference. This hands-on session guided solo and small firm attorneys through maximizing AI for their law practice.

Stuart doesn’t call them “virtual assistants.” He calls them “virtual career killers.” That’s because the use of these devices are fraught with serious ethics issues. In this session, Stuart explored the never-ending problems with virtual assistants and related technologies. Additionally, Stuart provided a demo on how the AI program Microsoft CoPilot works. This program:

  • Revealed ethical hotspots like confidentiality, safeguarding client property, and supervision.
  • Explored the problems with the "reasonable expectation of privacy" standard.
  • Discussed the dangers with other technologies like deep fakes (Rule 3.3).
