Professional enjoyment: I love that we make a difference in people's lives, and I love the camaraderie that we share as lawyers.

Your inspiration: my dad - I grew up watching him be an outstanding lawyer - at home, at his office and in court. We often had conversations about justice and fairness, integrity and ethics, and the awesome responsibility and privilege of being a lawyer. While I did not realize it as I was growing up, the law and the concept of justice had been an integral part of my upbringing. When I began working at his office during breaks from college, I realized that the law was what I was passionate about and that it was my calling. I still wake up every day thankful that I have the privilege of being a part of this wonderful profession.

Why bar association involvement: The practice of law is often isolating, as we are misunderstood by society and spend so much time and energy practicing. Being involved in bar associations like the ISBA and other local and specialty bar associations allows us to connect with others who understand. It allows us to work together to try to change the perception of attorneys. It provides us with the opportunity to network and make connections in order to grow our practice. It also gives us colleagues with different specialties to turn to when we have issues or questions. Most importantly, we get to know each other on a more personal level, and I believe that personal connection fosters civility.

If not a lawyer: medicine - I find it fascinating. Like the law, there are often puzzles to solve. I would be either a neonatologist working in a NICU or a pediatrician working in a PICU.

Fav hobbies: boating on Lake Michigan or Lake Cumberland, walking, cross-stitching and reading.

Fav book or author and current reading: Bossypants by Tina Fey - I am only about half way through it, but it is hilarious!

Fav vacation spot: Kauai, Hawaii; Lake Cumberland, Ky.; and London.

Fav food or restaurant: My favorite food is filet mignon cooked medium rare, and my favorite restaurant is Benny's Steakhouse in Chicago. My favorite type of food is Mediterranean.

Top of my bucket list: to see who and what my children will become and see what amazing things that they will accomplish.
