Dogs are People Too: A Morning of Film and Discussion  Presented by the ISBA Animal Law Section Wednesday, December 10, 2025
11:30 a.m. – 1:45 p.m. ET 1 hr. CLE About the event  Dogs Are People Too is a documentary that explores the legal and societal complexities of the human-dog relationship, particularly in the context of animal rights. It examines the conflict between how humans view dogs as family members and how the law often treats them as property. The film follows a landmark civil rights trial in Detroit, where a mother seeks justice for the killing of her dog, and delves into the growing movement to grant dogs legal personhood.

Special Guest: The Honorable K9 Judge is an 11-year-old German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois crossbreed. He is technically called a “Shepinois,” but he thinks that is a little “too fancy.” K9 Judge is a certified Canine Good Citizen, and he went on to receive his Therapy Dog Certification when he was 4. Since then, he has been part of the JLAP paw patrol crew to provide therapy dog support to Indiana judges, lawyers, bar applicants, law students, and supreme court employees. K9 Judge is a gentle giant living his best life as a Senior Judge these days, and he enjoys visiting his friends in the legal community. So Ordered. So Barked!     Who might enjoy this
