This is a program for attorneys who want to know what they can do to increase the likelihood of resolving a dispute at mediation. The program consists of a panel of experienced mediators, in both civil and domestic relations, discussing best practices for the preparation for mediation and the strategies used in mediation in order to increase the likelihood that the mediation will successfully result in a resolution of the dispute.

Topics to be covered include: preparation for mediation; timing of the mediation; selection of mediator; preparation of Confidential Statement; preparation of parties; preparation of opposing counsel; lienholders; mediation; use and value of open sessions; parties’ use of strategy; dealing with parties who aren’t willing to negotiate; suggestions for dealing with unrealistic expectations; and ways of dealing with impasse.

The panel is comprised of Registered Mediators with substantial experience in civil and family mediations.
