118th ISBA Annual Meeting

Oct. 8-10, 2014

Sheraton Indianapolis Hotel at Keystone Crossing

118th ISBA Annual Meeting in Indianapolis Oct. 8-10; register today

You won't want to miss this year's Annual Meeting Oct. 8-10 at the Sheraton Indianapolis Hotel at Keystone Crossing featuring keynote speaker Morris Dees, co-founder and chief trial attorney for the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC). In the decades since its founding, the SPLC has shut down some of the nation's most dangerous white supremacist groups. Dees will speak at the luncheon scheduled from noon to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9. Individual tickets are available.

Also this year, the ISBA is hosting the American Bar Association traveling exhibit, Magna Carta: Enduring Legacy 1215-2015, curated by the Library of Congress at the Indiana Statehouse during its fall meeting. In anticipation of the document’s 800th anniversary, the exhibit will feature spectacular images on free-standing banners that will tell the story of the Magna Carta and its catalyst role in promoting the rule of law. Please note: This exhibit is open to the public from Sept. 29 to Oct. 10.

As a result, the Annual Meeting is expanding to three full days, adding panels and topics about the Magna Carta and the rule of law. In addition to Dees keynote luncheon presentation, and in conjunction with the exhibit, the fall meeting will include a two-hour CLE program on Oct. 8 about the significant impact the Magna Carta has had on the culture in which we have been raised, both from an American and British perspective, and the rule of law around the world and here at home. Panelists will include Garrison Sergeant Major Billy Mott, Ceremonial Warrant Officer, London; Jon Laramore, Faegre Baker Daniels; Hon. John D. Tinder, U.S. Court of Appeals of the Seventh Circuit; Wm. T. (Bill) Robinson, Frost Brown Todd, Fmr. ABA President; Hon. Steven H. David, Indiana Supreme Court; and ISBA President Jim Dimos, Frost Brown Todd.

We hope you will participate in this year’s Annual Meeting service projects sponsored by the Pro Bono and Service Committees.

We are offering PUPPY CUDDLING this year in the Law Expo! Therapy dogs from Paws & Think will be on-site Thursday of the Annual Meeting. Don’t miss your chance to meet these four-legged friends and learn about this incredible organization that serves at-risk youths, at-risk canines and children and adults with disabilities/special needs in Central Indiana. Be sure to stop by for a cuddle!

We are encouraging members to donate to the Sojourner Truth House, a ministry of hope and help for homeless and at-risk women and their children sponsored by the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ. Through hospitality, advocacy, integrative services and collaboration, participants improve their quality of life and that of the community in a safe, trusting environment. We hope you will participate in this extremely worthwhile cause. To donate, please visit or stop by the on-site ISBA registration desk.

Please check back often. Additional information will be listed here as it becomes available. For questions about the Annual Meeting, contact Ashley Higgins, Director of Meetings & Events.
