Paralegals are those persons, regardless of job title or classification who are employed by a lawyer, law office, government agency, or other entity in Indiana, and working under the direction of an attorney in a capacity that involves the performance of substantive legal work that usually requires knowledge of legal concepts and who perform those duties at least 70 percent of the time.

Membership must be sponsored by an attorney in the same law office, government agency, or other entity in Indiana who is an Indiana State Bar Association member.

 

Annual dues are indicated within the category selection. Prorated dues will be charged at the time of checkout based on join date.

PARALEGAL CLE REQUIREMENTS

CLE requirements shall consist of 18 hours of CLE, including 3 hours of Ethics, over a 3 year period.
 A minimum of 3 hours of CLE, including 1 hour of Ethics, is required per year. No more than 3 hours shall be filled through distance education and no more than 6 hours shall be filled by non-legal subject (NLS) courses during the 3 year period. Deadline for completion is June 30 of each year. It is your responsibility to submit CLE verification to the Indiana State Bar Association.

AFFILIATE MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE

Affiliate Membership Committee


The Affiliate Membership Committee shall serve to integrate paralegal, law office administrator, law librarian and court administrator members into the Association by informing the various types of affiliate members of the programs and committees that will best serve their various interests. It shall work in conjunction with the Membership and Membership Benefits Committee to increase the number of affiliate members in the Association. It shall monitor the progress of the committee and report to the Membership and Membership Benefits Committee and Board of Governors as necessary
.
