Prof. Shawn Boyne receives Rabb Emison Award from the Indiana State Bar Association

 

INDIANAPOLIS (Aug. 30, 2017) – Prof. Shawn Boyne’s dedication to help promote diversity among members of the Indiana State Bar Association (ISBA) and the legal community were recognized at the ISBA annual awards luncheon in Indianapolis on Aug. 30, where she received the Rabb Emison Award.

 

Prof. Boyne joined the faculty at the I.U. Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2008 and currently teaches courses in cybercrime, criminal law, criminal procedure and national security law. She co-founded the Summer Leadership and the Law Academy at I.U. McKinney and has helped to direct the program for the past three years. She earned her J.D. from the University of Southern California’s Gould School of Law and her Ph.D. from the   University of Wisconsin. Her research interests focus on comparative criminal procedure and she has been elected as a Fellow in the European Law Institute. Previously, Prof. Boyne practiced law as both a prosecutor and a defense attorney in the state of New Mexico.

 

During her tenure at the law school, Prof. Boyne has received an IUPUI DRIVE Fellowship, a Trustee’s Teaching Award and the Prestigious External Award Recognition (PEAR Award). She is a three-time recipient of the John S. Grimes Research Grant. Prof. Boyne is an affiliated faculty member with Indiana University’s Institute for European Studies. From 2015-2016, she participated in IUPUI's Next Gen 2.0 leadership development program. During the 2016-17 academic year, she participated in I.U.'s Mosaic Faculty Fellow Program.
