Alexander J. Limontes receives ISBA Trailblazer/Abriendo Caminos Award

 

INDIANAPOLIS (Oct. 29, 2015) – Alexander J. Limontes’ dedication to help pave the way for the advancement of other Latino attorneys was recognized at the Indiana State Bar Association’s (ISBA) annual meeting in French Lick earlier this month, where he received the Trailblazer/Abriendo Caminos Award.

 

Limontes, Indianapolis, is an attorney at the firm Mitchell Hurst Dick & McNelis, where he focuses on plaintiff's personal injury work. Originally from Florida, he came to Indiana in 1999 to play football at Hanover College. He received his J.D. from the I.U. Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2007. During law school, he served as a law clerk at the firm Mitchell Hurst Jacobs & Dick. After graduation, Limontes started his career as a trial attorney with the Marion County Public Defender Agency. In 2011, he returned to work with William W. Hurst.   

 

Limontes is very active with the Indianapolis (graduate, Bar Leader Series - Class X; current member, Membership Committee; current communication chair, Young Lawyers Division Executive Committee; past chair, Solo/Small Firm Committee; past chair, Diversity Job Fair; secretary, Young Lawyers Division, Diversity Job Fair & Strategic Planning Committee) and Indiana State (member, Diversity Committee; member, Standing Committee on Latino Affairs; participant, "Talk to a Lawyer Today" program) bar associations. He is also chair of the Young Lawyers Division of the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association.

 

He is also very active in several community organizations, including the Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic, Julian Center, Muslim Legal Clinic and the Emberwood Center. Limontes is a frequent presenter on topics that involve representing or protecting the rights of Latinos and Hispanic immigrants.

 

He is also licensed to practice law in Florida.
