1.) The Uberfication of Healthcare: The “Thin” Law of Mobile Health & Wearables

  This presentation examines the “thin” law as currently applied to mobile health apps and wearable technologies, including an analysis of the FDA’s 2015 guidance on mobile health apps and an explanation of how the HIPAA privacy and security rules do or do not apply. In addition, the presentation will address important FTC cases and the potential liability of healthcare providers who recommend or curate apps.
   
 

2.) Countdown to 10: Now is the Time to Panic (If You Have Not Prepared)

The Health Law Section promotes the interests of the Section’s members and of the Association in the area of health law, studies and makes appropriate recommendations concerning health law matters, and monitors the developments of this area of practice. Some of the areas on which the section concentrates are: professional liability; managed care; fraud and abuse; social security; long-term care; and ethical issues.
