The Litigator Newsletter
The newsletter of the Litigation Section,
The Litigator, is currently being published two times
per year. The co-editors, Bryan H. Babb bbabb@boselaw.com
and Phillip J. Fowler pfowler@binghammchale.com
welcomes members to contribute articles and information. Section members receive
the mailings of the newsletter as a member benefit.
Public
Service Information The Litigation Section provides to the public,
at no charge, a brochure entitled, "Pre-Suit Mediation: A New
Alternative to Litigation." The ISBA has established
a statewide pre-suit mediation program as a public service to facilitate the resolution
of disputes more quickly and efficiently. The program includes guidelines and
forms for resolving disputes by mediation without first filing a lawsuit. The
brochure is available through the ISBA office at isbaadmin@inbar.org

Purpose The purposes of the Litigation Section shall be to bring
together for furtherance of their mutual interests such members of the Indiana
State Bar Association as are interested in the problems of the trial lawyer and
other branches of the law relating to trial practice and procedure, and also: (a)
To bring together for mutual helpfulness the members of the Indiana State Bar
Association who are primarily interested in the trial work and the problems associated
therewith; (b) To uphold the dignity and standing of the trial
lawyer and the honor and reputation of the members of this Association; (c)
To advance the science of jurisprudence; (d) To promote the
administration of justice by simplifying and expediting procedure; (e)
To clarify and advance the substance of law; (f) To aid and
encourage the holding of legal panels; (g) To encourage civility
among all members; (h) To protect the rights and interest of
the members; (i) To promote their general welfare, and; (j)
To foster and encourage a respect for the courts, lawyers, and the legal profession. Section
Bylaws Officers
and Council The Chair, Chair-Elect, Vice Chair and Secretary/Treasurer
hold their positions for one-year terms commencing at the Annual Meeting held
during the ISBA Annual Meeting in the fall. The Council consists
of one member of the Section from each ISBA District. The Officers of the Section,
the immediate Past Chair of the Section and the Chair of each of the committees
of the Section also shall be members of the Council. Past Chairs of the Section
also serve as honorary members of the Council. View the Officers and Council
