Elder Law Section Welcomes You


This ISBA Section web page is designed to provide members of the Elder Law Section a reference for section activities and to encourage other members of the ISBA to join the section.


Membership
· Section Annual Dues: $20.00 for attorneys and $10 for paralegals, July 1-June 30.
· Any member in good standing of the ISBA is eligible for membership in the Elder Law Section.

Section Purpose
The purpose of the Section shall be:

(1) To provide an organization within the Association for persons with an interest in elder law and to further the knowledge and professionalism of members in that field of law;


(2) To provide a forum for mutual help in the practice of elder law and to discuss and form solutions to problems occurring in such practice;


(3) To aid in the development of laws benefiting elder citizens and those concerned with the care and needs of the elderly;

Officers and Executive Council
The Chair, Chair-Elect, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer hold their positions for two-year terms commencing at the Annual Meeting of the Section, which is held during the ISBA Annual Meeting in the fall. The election is held during even numbered years. The Executive Council is the governing body of the Section between the meetings of the Section. The Executive Council mebers are the Section officers; the Chairs of standing committees of the Section; and all former Chairs of the Section.

The Council consists of one member of the Section from each ISBA District. The Officers of the Section, the immediate Past Chair of the Section and the Chair of each of the Committees of the Section also shall be members of the Council. Past Chairs of the Section become honorary members of the Council.
