Public Service Information
The ADR Section provides to the public, at no
charge, a brochure explaining what alternative dispute resolution
is, what types are available in Indiana and how to obtain
more information about ADR services. The brochure is available
through the ISBA office at isbaadmin@inbar.org
or by calling 317-639-5465.
Section Purpose
The purposes of the Alternative Dispute Resolution
Section shall be to bring together for furtherance of their
mutual interests members of the Association interested in
alternative dispute resolution and other related areas of
law; and also:
(a) to provide a forum for mutual assistance
in the practice of alternative dispute resolution;
(b) to discuss and find solutions to problems
occurring in the practice:
(c) to uphold the professionalism of the lawyers
engaging in this area of practice;
(d) to enhance the professional skills of the
lawyers and judges practicing in this field by aiding and
encouraging the holding of seminars, institutes, and legal
panels on the topic;
(e) to assemble and disseminate information
to the public for a better understanding of alternative dispute
resolution in all its forms;
(f) to recommend and assist in implementing
improvements to the alternative dispute resolution rules and
procedures on a continuing basis;
(g) to be a clearing house statewide for collecting
and distributing information to the Association on alternative
dispute resolution including, but not limited to, statistics,
case law, rules and regulations, and so on; and
(h) to promote the Section members' general
welfare.

Bylaws
Officers and Council
The Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary/Treasurer
hold their positions for two year terms commencing at the
Annual Meeting held during the ISBA Annual Meeting in the
fall.
The Council consists of the current officers;
four members of the Section from the Northern Federal District
of Indiana; four members of the Section from the Southern
Federal District of Indiana . They serve staggered two-year
terms.
