Comment sought on proposed rule changes

The Indiana Supreme Court Committee on Rules of Practice & Procedure is seeking comment on a number of proposed rules. You can learn details about the proposals online at http://www.state.in.us/judiciary/3784.htm, but generally the proposals include changes to the following:

1. Business counsel license: Admission & Discipline Rule 6 §2 and Professional Conduct Rule 5.5

2. Change of venue in criminal cases: Criminal Rule 12(D)

3. Change of venue in civil cases: Trial Rule 76

4. Acceptance of service by FAX or email: Trial Rules 3.1, 5 and 72

5. Selection and unavailability of special judges: Trial Rule 79

6. Continuing legal education: Admission & Discipline Rules 28 & 29, Mandatory CLE and CJE Guidelines and Alternative Dispute Resolution Rule 2

The Committee invites public comment on the proposed rule amendments. Those wishing to comment should do so, in writing, not later than May 9. Comments may be addressed to Lilia G.
