Foundation hosts Fellows annual dinner meeting

The Fellows of the Indiana Bar Foundation will host their annual meeting and dinner July 20 in French Lick. The group will induct 33 new Fellows, announce the Legendary Lawyer honoree and hear an address by Joseph H. Hogsett, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana.

Hogsett has served as U.S. Attorney since 2010 and is the legal representative for the U.S. government in both civil and criminal prosecutions. Since the beginning of 2011, those cases have included prosecution of a high-profile financier, conviction of a high-ranking public official, significant sentences imposed on numerous child pornographer, a business’ failure to comply with airplane cargo screening laws and a targeted effort to prosecute violation of federal gun and drug laws. A native of Rushville, Ind., Hogsett graduated from the I.U. School of Law- Bloomington in 1981.

Open to non-Fellows, reservations for dinner and cocktails are $100 before July 1. After July 1, prices increase to $120 per person. For more information and reservations, call 317/269-7864. Reduced lodging is available for attendees.

The Fellows began in 1979 with 400 attorneys pledging in excess of $400,000 to the Foundation. Membership is by invitation only. There are approximately 1,000 attorneys with the Fellows designation from the Indiana bar. A nominating committee invites candidates, reviews their credentials and makes recommendations to the board of directors of the Indiana Bar Foundation. Eligibility requirements include members who are recognized for professional, public and private careers that demonstrate outstanding legal ability and devotion to the welfare of their community, state and nation, as well as to the advancement of the legal profession.
