From unprecedented support for same-sex marriage on Election Day 2012 and the Supreme Court’s grants of certiorari in the DOMA and California marriage cases to President Obama’s historic invocation of Stonewall and call for marriage equality in his second inaugural address, the past several months seem to augur a “tipping point” for LGBT issues. In Indiana, the advent of a new administration and the legislative decision to table HJR 6 for the time being open the door for new political possibilities. This presentation will offer both lawyers and nonlawyers alike a chance to examine these developments and their meaning for our community, our clients and our institutions.
