Due to the upcoming retirement of long-time Education Director, Cathy Springer, the Indiana Judicial Center is soliciting applications for the position of Education Director. Appointment is subject to approval of the Chief Justice of Indiana.
The Education Director is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, coordinating, managing and implementing a comprehensive judicial and employee education, development and training program for the State of Indiana Judicial Branch. This position is responsible for collaborating with the Judicial Education Committee of the Judicial Conference of Indiana, and developing a long-term strategy for providing this education program. Specifically, the Education Director will be responsible for assessing training needs and working with faculty to design and implement curricula. The Education Director supervises the staff of the Education Division and reports to the Executive Director.
Candidates must be admitted to practice law in Indiana, and have experience in the design and delivery of professional education programs, with knowledge of and experience in applying adult learning principles and methodologies. Preferred candidates will possess court experience or demonstrate a working knowledge of the functions of state courts. Excellent oral and written skills are required, as well as the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with judges, judicial training staff, relevant professional organizations, and faculty and facilitators. Supervisory aptitude is also required. Salary will be commensurate with experience, but will be in the range of $65,000-75,000. Benefits include health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, and participation in the Indiana Public Employees Retirement Fund defined pension plan.
